Across the Way – Jacqueline Sullivan

Workshops:  Aug. 12, 13-15 – 9:30am-4:30pm
Exhibit and Lecture: Aug. 15, 5:30pm

Jacqueline Sullivan presents her latest art exhibit, My New Horizons, featuring her most recent horizon-line and cruciform paintings. Sullivan’s mixed-media works include writing; inspiration comes from Abstract Expressionism, intuitive abstracts, and Asian calligraphy. In Sullivan’s lecture “Legibility, That is the Question,” she’ll explain how she finds the best materials to create her calligraphy, words, and other marks. In her workshop “Creativity Collage Journal,” students will make marks in various media on a full-size sheet of watercolor paper. She’ll also teach gesso techniques combined with paint and inks. Cost is $125 plus a $10 supply fee.
Another workshop, “Mark Making, Words and Art,” is about making those marks more organic and expressive, bringing awareness to personal rhythms and movements.
Cost is $325 plus a $15 supply fee. Congregation Beth Israel, 229 Murdock Ave., Asheville. 828-772-0222. To register, visit bethisraelnc.org/cbi-artist-in-residence.
