Make-Your-Own Craft Experience
July 14 @ 12:30 pm - 5:30 pm
An event every week that begins at 12:30pm on Saturday, repeating until September 15, 2018
Asheville is known for its vibrant arts community and now you, too, can become an artist—and take home a unique memento of the city! We’ve put together three of our most popular craft experiences for you to choose from!
12:30-3:30 PM: Locker Hooked Coaster. Locker hooking has been practiced in the Appalachian Mountains since the 19th century. In this workshop, we’ll show you how to take colorful batik fabrics and a beautiful ceramic tile made by local artist Carolyn Kinnison and turn them into a unique piece of art that’s both pretty and practical!
1:30-4:00 PM: Decoupage Picture Frame. Try your hand at decoupage by making a personalized picture frame. It’s a great way to capture a special moment! Your frame can highlight Asheville or just about anything you can think of: another city, a person, a feeling, etc. If you can picture it, you can “paint” it with just a little glue and paper!
2:30-5:30 PM: Wirework Pendant Necklace. Learn how to make wirework jewelry by creating a stunning cabochon pendant necklace. You can put pretty much anything inside the pendant: a photograph, drawing, or even a magazine clipping! We’ll show you how to do it—and we’ll teach you how to create a beautiful, wirework beaded chain to go with it!
