Women at Trackside

March 27

Event Series Event Series (See All)
Strange Attraction, Dona Barnett

Seven accomplished artists from Trackside Studios will mount a March show that “speaks to the perspectives, experiences, and strengths of women — women artists, women portrayed in art, women constructing and living their lives in the world, both general and specific,” according to advance press.

Avant-garde assemblage artist Deborah Anderson is also known for her sketches honoring military veterans. Julie Bell constructs deceptively delicate wire sculpture. Multimedia maker Paige Houghton does 2D and 3D art by merging a unique method of fiber, metal, and resin she calls “fibric.” Nancy Moore’s “spirit portraits” are delightfully abstract. Michelle Hamilton’s encaustics are a radiant celebration of jewel-hued flora and fauna. Printmaker, painter, and sketcher Dona D. Barnett’s earthy palette balances the ethereal spirituality of her motifs. And Li Newton traffics in an amazing array of mediums including silk, oil, watercolor, and acrylic paint; pastel; mixed-media collage, and mosaics.

Says gallery member Lynn Stanley, “Contributing artists’ works are narratives [that will] resonate with each other — each piece telling its own story while enriching that of its neighbors.”
