Lynn Karegeannes, owner and founder of Full Life Arts in Asheville, is a tea fiend. “For me, tea is a symbol of hospitality, ritual, and serenity. I find it grounding and comforting,” says Karegeannes, who starts every day with a cup of black tea — “preferably strong.” In honor of her zeal for the hot herbal elixir, Karegeannes will host “Pocket Shrines for Tea Lovers” at A Southern Cup Fine Teas in Hendersonville. Slated for Saturday, Jan. 13, from 9:30am-12:30pm, the whimsical workshop will walk participants through creating their very own pocket shrine — which, according to Karegeannes, is “a small container that honors a thought or theme.” In this case, oolong devotees and chai fanatics will embellish an empty mint tin with tea-themed objects, such as itsy porcelain tea cups, paper teapot cutouts, tiny plastic teaspoons, and other unique adornments that “celebrate their love of tea.” Aptly, the three-hour session will also include a traditional cream tea with scones, fresh fruit, clotted cream, lemon curd, and jam. The day will close with a group share of the shrines.
“Pocket Shrines for Tea Lovers” happens Saturday, Jan. 13, 9:30am-12:30pm at A Southern Cup Fine Teas (1529 Greenville Hwy., Hendersonville). Cost is $33 per person. For more information, visit full-life-arts.com. To register, call 844-596-7832.
