Since marrying in San Francisco on Valentine’s Day in 1985, metalsmiths Tom Reardon and Kathleen Doyle have nurtured a nationally renowned jewelry enterprise. Working together, the two craft everything from hinged leaf bracelets to sunset sky pendants. But Reardon and Doyle are best known for their “Pisgah View” mountain rings. “Several years ago, guests at The Omni Grove Park Inn asked us to design [something] that captured the amazing views of Mount Pisgah,” Doyle tells Asheville Made. Over the years, the couple have added flourishes like stars, moons, and even space shuttles to the eclectic wearables. Guests will have the opportunity to watch Reardon and Doyle in action in late May during the Grovewood Village Studio Tour. During the free event, resident artists will open their studios and offer insight into their creative processes. Local fiber artist Deanna Lynch will also offer a weaving demonstration on a 100-year-old loom located inside the Biltmore Industries Homespun Museum. “When weavers sit down to weave where others have sat, I think we all feel the weight and presence of those that have come before us,” the textile artist explains. “We see the work and time spent there, and it’s quite special.”
