Before Hurricane Helene, we spoke with photographer LeeAnn Donnelly about the historic Kenilworth neighborhood, where she had planned to participate in the Kenilworth Artists Association Studio Tour in early October. “There’s a kind of magical — even mystical — feeling in pockets of Kenilworth,” Donnelly told us. “It must have something to do with the majesty of the trees, the windy roads, and the big houses … .” Sadly, the storm toppled many of those trees, blocked many of those roads, and damaged many of those big houses. But the magic is still there, and visitors can experience it during the rescheduled studio tour from November 30-December 1. “This is not only for us, the artists,” says Donnelly, “but it’s for the community too.” This year’s self-guided tour will feature local creatives working in oil, watercolor, acrylic, gouache, encaustic, jewelry, pottery, ceramics, glass, fiber, woodcraft, mixed-media, illustration, photography, paper, and collage. As with previous tours, artists will donate a portion of sales to Loving Food Resources, a pantry serving hospice and HIV/AIDS clients in Western North Carolina.
