2024 Annual Juried Members Exhibition, Opening July 12

Walk Slowly Among the Trees, Marilyn Place

From the meadows of Warren Wilson College to the coves of Montreat to the shores of Lake Tomahawk, there is no shortage of beauty in the Swannanoa Valley. In 1967, this natural artistic fodder gave rise to the Swannanoa Valley Art League (SVAL), an arts organization that now stands as one of the region’s oldest. As a tribute to its enduring legacy, SVAL will open the 2024 Juried Members Exhibition this July. Gallery-goers can expect everything from watercolors of downtown Black Mountain to ceramic clocks and cups. From emerging talents to seasoned artists, the juried nature of the exhibit elevates it beyond a mere display,” the gallery announces. It becomes a collective narrative, a visual dialogue that speaks to the richness and depth of contemporary art.” Andrea Stutesman, manager of The Red House Gallery, adds, This exhibition not only showcases diverse artistic expressions but also fosters a sense of unity and collaboration among our members.” This year’s show will be curated by Toni Elkins, an artist hailing from Columbia, South Carolina. Work will be on display through the second week of September.
