Fian Arroyo opens his studio for the Weaverville Art Safari

Step inside Fian Arroyo’s studio, and you might find a wizard cradling a box of baby dragons, a griffin caught mid-roar, or a troll hitching a ride down a country road. Known for his vivid watercolor and ink illustrations, Arroyo blends fantasy, humor, and fine art into scenes that feel both mischievous and masterful. Originally from Puerto Rico, the longtime illustrator and character designer has created work for major brands while cultivating his own pop-surreal style, now featured in galleries across the Southeast. This fall, Arroyo opens his studio to the public as part of the Weaverville Art Safari, one of Western North Carolina’s longest-running and most beloved art events. The free, self-guided tour invites visitors to explore the creative spaces of more than 70 artists across the rolling hills of north Buncombe County. Along the way, guests can meet painters, potters, woodworkers, and jewelers, witnessing firsthand how each transforms raw materials into works of art.
