Duality in Nature

Beautiful Sorrow, Amy Noack

Mother Nature thrives on contrast — light and dark, stillness and motion, growth and decay. It’s this constant push and pull that inspires painter Amy Noack. Rather than planning each composition, she lets instinct take the lead. “Each work begins from within, intuitively,” she shares. “That’s when magic happens. It flows through the paintbrush with each stroke and mark.” Noack often layers paint with charcoal, ink, pencil, or oil pastel to create pieces that feel both spontaneous and considered. “Amy’s steady commitment to creating engaging artwork has elevated her to a level of mastery that is evident in every new painting she delivers,” says Julie Wilmot, owner of The Gallery at Flat Rock. “Over the past years, she has grown significantly as an artist, bringing forth polished work reflecting a skill level that is immediately appreciated.” Noack is one of several regional artists featured in Duality in Nature, a group exhibition opening on Earth Day at the Henderson County gallery. Other participating artists include Gary Cooley, Hunter Jay, AnnMarie LeBlanc, and Dale McEntire. The reception on Tuesday, April 22, will include poetry from Karen Luke Jackson and a talk by Conserving Carolina about the environmental impact of Hurricane Helene. The exhibit runs through May 10 and will be followed by True Love: Art and Animals We Love, opening May 27.
