The Love of Craft Festival

Many people believe bad things come in threes. But not the folks with the Asheville Brewers Alliance. On Saturday, February 22, the alliance will be serving up a trifecta of goodness during The Love of Craft Festival at Battery Park Hall. “Guests will enjoy a diverse array of craft beverages, unique handcrafted goods at the artisan market, and creative mac-and-cheese dishes,” explains Karis Roberts, executive director of the alliance. Since the festival is centered around community resilience post-Helene, 100 percent of proceeds will go back to event producers and vendors, including makers like Madison County woodworker Michael Witt. Working out of his basement in Mars Hill, Witt crafts bread knives as well as bread, charcuterie, and cheese boards using sustainably harvested exotic woods and local hardwoods. “I love finding just the right piece of lumber,” he says. During the festival, Franklin resident Jacob Ray will also be selling greeting cards, bookmarks, magnets, and prints associated with his band Complicated Music Machine. The artist sees the event as a much-needed source of positivity, saying, “… we all need some more positive experiences in our lives, especially in the wake of disasters such as Hurricane Helene.”
