Three artists explore the momentum between tradition and modern design
Building the Pyramid, Brown, Bill Hall

A new three-artist exhibition at Momentum Gallery highlights the creative tension between tradition and innovation. On view March 12 through May 2, the show features printmaker Bill Hall, ceramist David Crane, and furniture maker John Dodd, each offering a distinct perspective on craftsmanship. Hall begins with original prints, then reshapes them into layered collages enhanced with painted details. His compositions feel rhythmic and organic, often drawing subtle inspiration from natural patterns while maintaining a strong graphic presence. Crane approaches clay with clean geometry and expressive surface design. By dividing vessels into sections with varied glazing techniques, he creates pieces that balance structure with visual spontaneity, encouraging viewers to look closely at shifts in color and texture. Dodd’s sculptural furniture blends utility with artistry. Using wood and concrete, he creates mirrors, benches, and shelving that highlight natural materials while inviting everyday interaction. Together, the exhibition celebrates the enduring relevance of skilled making and the evolving possibilities of contemporary craft.
