Dog-loving artists raise funds at holiday ornament event

At Philip DeAngelo Studio and Gallery, the love of art is matched only by the love of dogs, from floppy-eared loungers to brindled goofballs to grey-muzzled elders. Each December, that affection fuels the studio’s annual Holiday Ornament Fundraiser supporting the Shelter Dog Transport Alliance, a nonprofit that helps rescue animals reach safe, loving homes. For this year’s fundraiser, artists are crafting one-of-a-kind ornaments from copper, felt, paper, and other materials, each inspired by the spirit of second chances. Every purchase sends proceeds directly toward lifesaving transports, fueling the journeys that carry shelter dogs toward families of their own. Visitors can shop the collection all month or stop by on Saturday, Dec. 13, when the gallery will spotlight the cause and celebrate the pups it benefits. The canine-friendly programming continues into 2026. In March, guest artist Greg Vineyard brings his whimsical “Collagimals Workshop” to the studio, guiding visitors through playful animal collages made from recycled materials. Then, in April, the gallery hosts Slurp, Snack, Sit, & Stroll — a pet-friendly open house with local sips, light bites, artful conversation, and plenty of treats for four-legged guests.
