39th Annual National Arts & Crafts Conference returns to Asheville

Few gatherings celebrate the handmade with the depth and devotion of the National Arts & Crafts Conference. Returning to Asheville for its 39th year, the annual winter convening transforms the Omni Grove Park Inn into a meeting ground for collectors, historians, and makers drawn to the movement’s enduring ideals. This year’s program turns its lens toward the utopian roots of the Arts and Crafts era, exploring early artist colonies such as Byrdcliffe, Roycroft, and Rose Valley—communities founded in response to industrialization and the accelerating pace of modern life. Across three days of lectures, demonstrations, and conversations, attendees will dive into subjects ranging from Newcomb College Pottery and British metalwork to Frank Lloyd Wright’s Oak Park studio. Beyond the seminar rooms, the inn’s historic corridors host exhibitor shows featuring antiques, furniture, pottery, textiles, and contemporary craft, creating an immersive experience where history, scholarship, and the joy of collecting converge.
