Step through the looking glass and into Inner Worlds, a solo exhibition by Asheville artist Janice Geller. Opening August 22 at Pink Dog Gallery, the show invites viewers to wander through dreamscapes where time bends, bodies shift, and nothing is quite what it seems. Rooted in her work as a dancer, educator, and psychotherapist, Geller’s paintings explore the rich terrain of the unconscious — where personal mythologies collide with cultural memory. In one piece titled “Tea,” for example, two women share tea while the world unravels around them. “They seem oblivious to anything besides their conversation, or maybe they are from a century before so much chaos,” reads a press release. At once playful and probing, the works reflect Geller’s desire to surface what’s hidden and stir the viewer’s own imagination. The opening reception on Friday, August 22, will feature intimate performances inspired by the paintings.
