Outside the Lines is all about letting go of logic and leaning into intuition. Opening at Blue Spiral 1 on Independence Day, this exhibition brings together seven abstract artists who follow an inner compass rather than a set of rules. According to a press release, these makers will present pieces “that hum, defy, and soothe, inviting viewers to experience rather than interpret, to feel rather than define.” Downstairs, Hold This / Hide That muses on the humble vessel. From reliquaries to junk drawers, containers have always been part function, part mystery. This exhibit features artists all asking the same quiet question: What are we keeping, and why? Also on view: surreal, storybook-like scenes by Atlanta painter Charles Keiger, and a joint exhibit from Lainard Bush and Kenny Pieper, who share a reverence for pattern and process.
Outside the Lines: July 4-August 27; Opening Reception (all shows): Friday, July 4, 5-7pm
