What I’m Working On:

Study Assistant, Rocky.

When faced with the new reality of quarantine mid-March, I set up a workspace in my home and I embarked on a Mail Art project. In the spirit of Ray Johnson and other mail artists of the past…and also to connect to people and surprise them with some US Mail – I sent out some original art – 66 small paintings (4 x 6 inches). I called the series Tiny Mutant Totems, as they are small versions of my recent Mutant paintings (some of which look a lot like viruses).

I describe them as genetic experiments gone wrong, but these days they feel eerily prescient, both visually and in concept. My cat, Rocky, served as my studio assistant and muse during this project. I am in the process of making more of these tiny paintings now.
