Wild Art Outdoor Sculpture Showcase

The North Carolina Arboretum

The Visitor, Roger Martin

As spring blooms throughout the Southern Appalachian mountains, the North Carolina Arboretum is filling its gardens with more than just flowers. Wild Art, an outdoor sculpture showcase, features an array of works by 17 local and national artists.

“It’s an honor to be in this show at the Arboretum for several reasons,” says mosaic sculpture artist Linda Pannullo. “It’s my first major installation, and this is the first time the Arboretum has mosaic pieces in a show. [Therefore], it’s important for me to elevate this ancient medium from craft to art, and to display the variety of mosaics.”

Each piece in the juried exhibit reflects how the artists view the natural world and wildlife, offering insight to the surrounding landscape.
